As you can appreciate, we shall not be liable to you, for any failure or delay in the performance of our contract if it is due to an event beyond our reasonable control. Including, without limitation, acts of God, war, industrial dispute, fire, flood, tempest and national emergencies and if so delayed, we shall be entitled to a reasonable extension of time for performing such obligations. I marginally preferred the look and functions of the Panasonic, which is why the BT models come second in my list – but we’re talking degrees of difference rather than a gulf. A worthy runner up.

As above, basically. When the KX-TGK222 phone is in its base station they look like a tall white column – which is eye-catching and creative and a bit different. Until it rings, you wouldn’t even know it was a phone. Limited. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Sales arranged by Direct Group Creation Consumer Finance Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Register no. 311518).

And then you separate phone from the base station to make a call, and it all falls apart, metaphorically speaking. The phone just feels a bit cheap and nasty, and the display is a bit meh. Set up is also quite fiddly. The Panasonic KX-TGK222 has a built-in answering machine with up to 30 minutes recording time. With clear sound, you’ll never miss a message again, and there’s also the option to record your own personalised greeting. When you have a new message, the blue LED on the exterior of the handset flashes to let you know. Additional Features In addition to caller display, there’s anonymous call silencing, and a choice of thirty selectable ringtones. Talk time is set at 14 hours, with stand-by lasting a full 320 hours.

As you may have noticed, none of the landline phones I tested come with a telephone cord. That’s because, basically, it’s really hard to find corded landline phones anymore. Of the major brands I reached out to, only BT offers corded phones as a matter of course. Even then, they are considered outdated technology. Comparing the quality of these cordless phones with my desk phone which has a cord, I didn’t notice any real difference. Incoming call and message indicator. The blue LED indicator elegantly notifies you of incoming calls and new messages. The BT4600 is also supplied with an inductive coupler and earpiece volume control, designed to make it easier for hearing aid users to take and make phone calls. It has an outdoor wireless range of up to 300m too, and an indoor range of up to 50m. The two-tone colour scheme keeps the design looking fresh, and unlike so many cordless phones, the display is full colour. There’s also a 150-name phonebook and an integrated answering machine with 30 minutes recording capacity. Helpfully, you can transfer the phonebook between each of the four bundled handsets; individual ringtones can be assigned to selected handsets for internal calls, and you can transfer internal calls between them. The most compelling reason to buy a landline, as mentioned above, is to call the emergency services during a powercut when your mobile phone is dead or out of signal but unless you’re literally a character in a horror movie, that seems like a pretty specific and unlikely set of circumstances to be in. Everything I said about the previous Gigaset device is also true of this one (aside from the internet calling) but there’s nothing really to make this one stand out. You get 17 hours talk time out of the batteries which is alright, but aside from that it’s a very standard phone. John Lewis plc, registered office: 171 Victoria Street, London SW1E 5NN. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Register no. 724309) for the purpose of introducing the credit provided by Creation Consumer Finance Ltd, registered office: Wellington Buildings, 2-4 Wellington Street, Belfast BT1 6HT. While this one isn’t exactly large, there’s a clear display which features all the information you’ll need, from battery life to incoming call details. This phone’s upright style and small footprint help it blend seamlessly with your interior. And its sophisticated silver finish exudes luxury.
